city of cluj, Romania

Cluj-Napoca is one of the largest cities in Romania, located in the north-west of the country, in Transylvania. It is an important academic, cultural and industrial centre of Romania.

The National Art Museum in Cluj hosts many valuable works by famous Romanian painters such as Nicolae Grigorescu or Stefan Luchian. The city of Cluj is also home to the Transilvania International Film Festival.

Economically, Cluj is a growing city and has become an important IT centre with numerous software companies based here. Nokia is one of the big brands present in Cluj, with plans to build a factory and research centre in the city.

Cluj is served by Cluj Napoca International Airport.

By rail, Cluj is connected directly to all the major Romanian cities and to Budapest. Cluj also has good road links, as it's located on three European motorways (E60, E81 and E576).
